Browsers

This Rutlish resource has been developed using Internet Explorer 10 and tested with Firefox and Chrome.

Javascript

Some features in this resource use Javascript if they are to work at all. Unfortunately the security settings of some browsers stop Javascript running - to find out how to enable Javascript in different browsers click here.

Important Note: If you are a Windows XP or Vista user you may have default settings for your Internet Explorer which restrict the use of "Active Content". In that case, your browser may something like ask: "Are you sure that you want to run active content on your computer?". Reply "Yes" as otherwise features requiring the use of Javascript will not work. You should allow "Active Content" to run whenever you are asked the question. In some cases, there may be a bar at the top of your browser window on which you click and select an option to "Allow Blocked Content" to run. This will then allow Javascript to run.

PDF Documents

This resource holds some files in pdf format. These should be clearly identified. To read them in your browser, left-click as usual. To download them, right-click on the link and save them to your hard disk.

Get Adobe Acrobat Reader Documents in Portable Document Format (pdf) can be read using a free reader downloadable from the Adobe website which may already be integrated into your browser. pdf is used for publishing documents which should not be edited further (like annual accounts). pdf documents are identified by the symbol pdf document.

Picture Formats - gif and jpg

This resource holds some files in gif and jpg format. These should be automatically opened by your browser but will be shown in a resolution set by the browser. You can often view those files at higher resolution by opening them in your own software - to do this right click on a picture, save them to your hard disk and then open them in your software. If you do not have any picture viewing software, try Irfanview which is a good free program downloadable from the Internet.
